Founded in 1875, Blackburn Rovers are based in Blackburn. Their honours before the Premier League included 6 FA Cups and 2 First Division titles. The First Division wins came in 1911/12 and 1913/14. Their last FA Cup in that earlier record was won in 1927/28. Later league honours included a Second Division championship in 1938/39, followed by a Third Division championship in 1974/75. The detailed Premier League record here starts in 1992/93.

Rise and title, 1992–95

Blackburn had won the Football League play-offs in 1992. Their opening Premier League season ended with a 4th-place finish. They were runners-up in 1993/94, taking 84 points. The title followed in 1994/95 with 89 points, still their highest season total in the archive. Their goal difference of plus 41 was also their best.

Ewood Park was their home throughout this period.

The first relegation, 1995–99

The champions finished 7th the following season. That campaign included a 7–0 home win over Nottingham Forest, Blackburn's widest league victory in the archive. By 1996/97 they were down to 13th. An 11-match winless run had occupied the opening months of that season.

There was a return to 6th place in 1997/98. It did not last. Blackburn finished 19th in 1998/99. That was their first relegation in the Premier League record, followed by an absence until 2001/02.

A return, a cup and another exit

The return season brought 10th place in the league alongside a League Cup win. The next league finish was 6th, before the following campaigns both ended in 15th place. In the latter, Blackburn took 42 points. A return of 63 points brought another 6th-place finish in the later campaign.

A 7th-place finish followed in 2007/08. They were back in 10th place in 2009/10, with a points total higher than in either of their final campaigns. The later seasons were lower: Blackburn were 15th in 2010/11. Their second Premier League spell then ended in relegation, closing another period of uninterrupted top-flight football. The final covered season was 2011/12, when they took 31 points.
