Brighton and Hove is home to Brighton & Hove Albion, founded in 1901. Their earlier honours include Southern League championships and the Fourth Division title of 1964/65. The detailed league record here starts in 1992/93, ahead of the club's later Premier League seasons.
The ground history places Brighton at the Goldstone Ground until 1996/97. A spell at Priestfield Stadium followed, before Withdean Stadium became home at the end of that decade.
Divisional titles came in consecutive seasons, with the Third Division followed by the Second Division. Their later move to American Express Stadium is recorded from 2011/12, before Chris Hughton's appointment. Hughton was in charge when their Premier League record began.
The opening top-flight campaign ended in 15th, followed by a lower finish the next season. Hughton left that May and Graham Potter arrived later in the month.
Potter's early campaigns remained in the lower half before Brighton moved into 9th place. His tenure ended in September 2022, with Roberto De Zerbi appointed later that month.
The improvement under Potter was visible in the points total as well as the placing. His last full campaign returned 51 points, above either of the previous seasons in his tenure. The goal difference also moved closer to an even balance, although the season still ended with a negative figure.
De Zerbi's opening campaign brought Brighton's highest finish here. It included a home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers by 6–0, their widest league victory in the archive. That completed season returned 62 points, above every other Brighton league campaign in the archive.
A lower finish followed before De Zerbi's recorded spell ended. Fabian Hürzeler arrived that summer and led the club back into the top half. Brighton matched that placing the next year, though with fewer points. Their latest completed season was 2025/26, ending in 8th place.
Coverage Premier League matches only, in the seasons the archive publishes; cups and European matches are not included. Team sheets (line-ups, minutes, cards) are held for 2025/26 only.
