Ipswich Town date their foundation to 1878, with Ipswich their recorded home. They won the First Division championship of 1961/62 and the FA Cup. The UEFA Cup followed in 1980/81. The archive's detailed league record begins at 1992/93.
Portman Road remained the club's home throughout the seasons held here. Ipswich opened the Premier League record in 16th place, with a lower placing and fewer points the following season. An unbeaten sequence in the opening autumn covered 10 league matches, running from October to late December.
The later relegation campaign brought their heaviest league defeat in these results, a 0–9 loss away to Manchester United. The season also returned a more negative goal difference than either of the earlier Premier League campaigns. Ipswich went down in 1994/95, finishing bottom of the table.
Their next Premier League appearance brought a different outcome from the earlier relegation campaign. The club finished 5th, its highest placing in the archive. The same campaign produced their best goal difference and highest points total, rather than merely matching a placing from the earlier spell.
That position was not sustained the following season. A winless sequence stretching from August into December reached 15 matches, while the campaign also contained their widest recorded league victory. That win was 5–0 against Sunderland at home. Relegation followed despite the return season's upper-table finish.
Kieran McKenna's stored appointment preceded the much later Premier League return. That later campaign returned 22 points, below the total in every earlier Ipswich Premier League season held here. That completed Premier League return season ended with fewer points than either campaign of the previous spell, and another relegation. McKenna left in June 2026, with Gary O'Neil appointed later that month. Ipswich's latest listed Premier League season is the renewed coverage in 2026/27, rather than a final placing already completed here.
