Wimbledon were founded in 1889 and were based in Wimbledon. Their earlier record includes 8 Isthmian League titles. Southern League titles followed across 1974/75 to 1976/77. Their later honours before the Premier League included the Fourth Division title in 1982/83 alongside the FA Cup in 1987/88. Detailed league coverage begins in 1992/93.
Already sharing Selhurst Park with Crystal Palace when the Premier League began, Wimbledon had been based there since the previous season. Their stored ground history dates the move to 1991/92. Their first Premier League campaign ended in 12th place with 54 points.
They finished 6th the following season, still their highest placing in the archive. The return was 65 points, their best season total. Their goal difference was only plus 3, despite that finish.
A 1–7 defeat at Aston Villa belongs to the next campaign and is their heaviest league loss in the archive. Wimbledon finished 9th in 1994/95. They took 56 points, although their goal difference was now minus 17. This was still a top-half finish, before the lower placings that followed.
The next league campaign included a 14-match run without a league win. It stretched from September to December before Wimbledon finished 14th.
The following autumn brought a different sequence: 7 consecutive league wins. Wimbledon remained unbeaten for 14 matches in the longer sequence ending in December. An 8th-place finish followed, with a points total matching the earlier top-half campaign even though the goal difference had turned positive.
Lower finishes followed: Wimbledon ended 1997/98 in 15th place. The next season ended one position lower, with the side again outside the top half. Their final campaign in the archive included a 5–0 home win over Watford, their biggest Premier League victory here. The goal difference was minus 28 by the end of the campaign, their lowest in the archive. Relegation closed their Premier League spell in 1999/00, with a final placing of 18th.
