Record in this archive: 22 league matches, 13 won, 5 drawn, 4 lost (2.00 points per game)
Source: Wikidata (CC0), head coach statement, read 15 Oct 2026. The record counts league matches the archive holds since that date.
Manchester United were founded in 1878 and are based in Manchester. Before the Premier League, their honours included 7 First Division titles and 7 FA Cups. They also won the European Cup in 1967/68 followed by the Cup Winners' Cup in 1990/91. Detailed league coverage here starts in 1992/93.
Alex Ferguson was already in charge when that record begins. United won the opening Premier League season, then retained the title with 92 points. That second campaign remains their highest points total here.
The 1994/95 season included a 9–0 home victory over Ipswich Town. United won the next league title in 1995/96. They retained it the following campaign, before another title run began in 1998/99. Their league title that season accompanied a Champions League win.
After another championship in 2002/03, they next won the league in 2006/07. The following campaign brought another league title and the Champions League. Their goal difference that season reached plus 58.
Ferguson's last league title came in 2012/13, with his recorded spell ending that summer. He left after the club's 13th championship in the archive's completed seasons.
David Moyes' spell began in July 2013, and the following campaign ended in 7th place. Louis van Gaal's recorded tenure began that summer. José Mourinho followed in May 2016.
United were runners-up in 2017/18. Mourinho left later that year, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær's recorded spell beginning the following day. Another 2nd-place finish came in 2020/21. Solskjær’s recorded tenure ended in November of that year.
Erik ten Hag's stored spell began in July 2022. United finished the following league campaign in 3rd place. The next season brought an 8th-place finish and an FA Cup win.
Ten Hag's tenure ended in October 2024, with Ruben Amorim arriving the following month. United finished that league season in 15th place, their lowest placing here. Amorim's recorded spell ended in January 2026, with Michael Carrick taking charge later that month. The latest completed league season, 2025/26, ended with United in 3rd place.
